If and when we do decide to build, I design every part of the building to be dismountable. Designing for disassembly creates aesthetic appeal because it makes what we see understandable on a visceral level. As humans we find joy and calmness in understanding the world around us and pride in seeing how it was made.

I spend the first decade of my career in the construction industry as a carpenter. I know the harm many materials cause to our bodies all too well, but I also know the joy of working with natural materials.

The things that harm us are often the same things that harm the natural world on which we depend. Using materials that are good for our health and supportive of our wellbeing is often in line with what's good for the planet.

The key, and the complexity in architecture, is to balance renewable materials with the fundamental necessities of durability. A building that is not durable can not be sustainable.

I design buildings that connect us to each other and to the world around us.

Architecture shapes the way we live, interact, and feel a sense of belonging. A well-designed space can encourage community, spark collaboration, and remind us of our place in nature.

In a world where people are more isolated then connected by screens, busy lives, and poorly planned environments I use architecture as a way to bring people together.
